The HI3897-010 are high quality reagents that are pre-measured, allowing for users to achieve fast and accurate acidity measurements with the HI3897 Olive Oil Acidity Test Kit. These reagents follow an acid base titration method to determine acid concentration as oleic acid.

For determination of olive oil acidity, a sodium hydroxide titrant reacts with acids present in the sample after dissolution in an organic solvent reagent. With dropwise addition of the basic titrant solution, the solution turns pink as it reaches the final endpoint. The number of milliliters of titrant used to reach the endpoint will determine the percent acidity. These reagents are designed to be used with samples that have an expected acidity range of 0.00 to 1.00% acidity.
