Details

The portable HI87314 EC and resistivity meter is suitable for use in a wide range of applications. It offers four conductivity measurement ranges from 0.0 µS/cm to 199.9 mS/cm with ±1% FS accuracy as well as a resistivity measurement range from 0 to 19.90 MΩ•cm with ±2% FS accuracy. The HI76302W four-ring conductivity probe that is supplied with the meter allows for a wide range of measurements with a single sensor. The four-ring technology also eliminates the polarization effect that is common with standard two pole versions. The HI87314 offers Automatic Temperature Compensation (ATC) from 0 to 50°C (32 to 122°F) and an adjustable temperature coefficient (β).

Features at-a-glance

Four-Ring EC Probe – The HI76302W four-ring probe that comes with the HI87314 offers a versatile and accurate solution for conductivity readings. Four-ring technology allows for a larger range of measurement within a single probe, whereas two probe technology is somewhat limited in the range in which it can measure. The probe comes with a protective PVC sleeve that assures durability when taking measurements outdoors, and a built-in temperature sensor to allow for automatic temperature compensation.

Resistivity Probe – The HI3316D resistivity probe is also included with the HI87314 portable meter. Specially designed to measure resistivity, the easy to maintain probe features a built-in temperature sensor for accurately compensated resistivity readings.

Four EC Measurement Ranges – HI87314 offers four conductivity measurement ranges. Each range has a dedicated button on the face of the meter, allowing users to easily switch between ranges when necessary. The meter is programmed to let the user know when their current reading is out of range, and a new range should then be selected.

Automatic Temperature Compensation – Since temperature has such a dramatic effect on conductivity and resistivity readings, having a meter that offers temperature compensated readings is invaluable. Both probes that are supplied with the HI87314 feature built-in temperature sensors that automatically account for the effects of temperature on a sample’s reading in the range of 0 to 50°C (32 to 122°F).

Adjustable Temperature Coefficient – As the temperature of a solution increases or decreases, the conductance becomes higher or lower, respectively. The temperature compensation coefficient, also known as β, is the factor that adjusts for the temperature of a solution to ensure an accurate reading is achieved. The HI87314 allows for an adjustable β to be set from 0 to 2.5%/°C for conductivity and from 2 to 7%/°C for resistivity; this factor corrects readings by the set percentage for each degree Celsius change in the sample.

One-point Calibration –  The HI87314 can be calibrated at one point in a standard conductivity solution. The calibration knob located in the battery compartment of the meter is easily adjusted to the correct calibration standard.
